Astrology is used to be very accurate science in India. There were some great astrologers like Varahmihra, who once predicted the death of the son born to the greatest King Vikramaditya. Though the child was born to the King and his kingdom had several astrologers but Varahmihra was the most different as he was famous for predicting accurately – good or bad didn’t matter. Now what Varahmihra predicted was- the Child will be killed by the bear at the age of 18 and gave some date as well. Rest of the astrologers too gave the predictions, but none of them predicted death and no bad event on the specified date. They asked Varahmihra that how he could be so sure. Now instead of arguing, Varahmihra told the king that destiny is destiny and it couldn’t be avoided.
King Vikramaditya though couldn’t believe the Varahmihra prediction, however he didn’t even ignored it completely. Now the days started to pass, and child was becoming a young prince. Though king was happy, however in some corner of his mind he was fearful, what if whatever Varahmihra predicted was true.
On prince’s 18th Birthday everyone laughed at Varahmihra and asked him not to give false prediction. But Varahmihra was too certain. Before the fateful day and time was about to arrive, king kept the prince in a non-secluded palace, miles away from forest, fully surrounded by Guards and soldiers, where no bear or for that matter any forest creature can barge in. Now once that predicted time was over, king laughed at Varahmihra. Though king was sure that prince would be alive but got shattered when Varahmihra asked king to check as Son was dead.
King at once sent his guards to check on prince. To their amazement prince was dead and one brass bear (which was there in the palace as a sculpture) fallen on him. Now everyone was amazed how minutely and accurately Varahmihra predicted the event.
Now such astrologers in today’s time are hard to find. Mostly dependent on lesser inner psychics power and more on probability factor.
Now how to make sure that astrologer is good and his prediction will be correct:
a) Good astrologer is always going to take time and verify your details (like date of birth, time of birth and place of birth) by matching it with some major event of your life
b) He/ She will give you accurate prediction about your past events. This is make him/ her sure that he has right details
c) Now he/she will do analysis and focus on questions of your interest and give prediction.
d) Lastly they will confirm once the specified event has occurred or not on the specified date’s.
Lastly as life is full of ups and downs, likewise in astrology there is no magic wand which make just good things happen to you, otherwise all of the astrologers could have been most successful people on this planet. So ask for the remedies for some bad situation but there are very less chances that remedies will be useful.

Astrology Books
These day I am reading LIGHT ON LIFE - An introduction to the Astrology of India by Hart Defouw and Robert Svoboda. This is little different from rest of the Books in the market. The Difference lies in fact:
a) Authors doesn't take for granted that reader will be little knowldegeable in the field of Astrologer.
b) None of the Indian Author has given examples why Planets are lord of 12 houses.. is there a story behind it.. this is the first Book I came across which has mentioned the story and that is quite logical also.
b) When they try to teach you yoga..they tell in such a way that some great Indian astrologers could not done so far.
Anyhow this is little costly book.. penguin edition is Rs 350/- however it is worth it.
Have a great reading.

Vargottam
If a planet in a sign occupies the Navamsha of that very sign, the planet is "Vargottam", In the movable, fixed and mutable signs the 1st, 5th and the last Navarnsa is respectively the "Vargottam" Navarnsa.
The signs Leo, Taurus, Aries, Virgo, Sagittarius, Libra and Acquarius are respectively the Mool Trikona signs of Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn.
For a planet to be "Vargottam" is a source of strength to that planet and often results in the good of the person having it.

This is my first post in this blog. My main aim to be different.. don't other claim.. Yes you are right.. however I guess I don't trust astrology despite being a student of astrology for at least a year now. Simple reason being I haven't come across any single astrologer (This is my personal point of view).. whom I have discussed my future.. rather about career that they have told me something in exactly.. they have seen what actually I have seen myself about dasa, sade sati.. but there are more to Astrology then these things.. however my quest will on this blog will to find out the secrets of Astrology and make it available to each and everybody.
